Not one for speeches, Isabel Marant let her guests relax and enjoy themselves Wednesday night in the leafy garden around the pool at the Chateau Marmont.
Friends and supporters including Kate Bosworth, Justin Long, Kiki Layne, Nausheen Shah, Emmanuelle Alt and Ashley Graham came out to help the French designer and artistic director Kim Bekker celebrate 30 years of boho design, and the 10th anniversary of the Melrose Place store.
“We love women like her,” said Graham, who has a deep appreciation for female entrepreneurship, as seen on the TV series “Side Hustlers” that she cohosts with Emma Grede.
Like Graham, lots of guests were wearing Marant, including model Jessica Miller, decked out in a red leather top and mini, and Dree Hemingway in cream frayed jeans with the designer’s bestselling Skanos belt bag in tow.
“L.A. is so Isabel Marant,” the designer said. “A bit bohemian cool but can also be very dressy.”
Over the years, Marant has made quite a study of the L.A. look, and L.A. returned the favor with Bosworth, Jessica Biel, Emma Roberts and others making her skinny jeans, studded boots and fringy leather jackets part of their everyday street style.
Editors and stylists embraced her too, as evidenced by Kate Foley, Tara Swennen, Hillary Kerr, Laura Eckstein Jones and others coming out to dine on skinny margaritas, grilled salmon and French fries, before a chill performance by indie pop band The Marias.
“We wanted to do something here and felt like the Chateau was really nice,” said chief executive officer Anouck Duranteau-loeper of coming to L.A. “It’s been a long time since we’ve been back.”
