Abby Phillip brightened the White House Correspondents’ Dinner 2024 red carpet on Saturday. The CNN anchor wore a gold dress from Sergio Hudson at the event, which was held at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Phillip’s chiffon dress featured a floor-sweeping hem and a pleated maxi skirt with a metallic pattern. The dress was from Hudson’s ready-to-wear fall 2023 collection, which was inspired by style setters of the 1970s.
“The decadent decade gave him a wide road to explore new ideas, like several pleated sheer chiffon dresses with billowy peasant sleeves, unbuttoned down to the wide belts (a new accessory category) and uber sexy,” WWD previously reported on the collection.
Phillip was styled by Leon Gray for the event.
Earlier on Saturday, Phillip attended the White House Correspondents’ Garden Brunch, where she was seen in a white and red dress from Amsale. The journalist is often seen in vibrant colors on red carpets. In 2022, she wore a fiery red off-the-shoulder dress to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is an annual event hosted by the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA), which uses the event as its main source of revenue to finance its work. “Saturday Night Live’s” Colin Jost was chosen as this year’s host. Journalists, politicians, government officials and celebrities, including President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden, were invited to the event.
