Selena Gomez spoke on a panel for her Rare Beauty‘s third annual Mental Health Summit on Wednesday. The actress and singer was joined by Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy and Rare Beauty’s Elyse Cohen during the panel segment of the event in New York City.

For the occasion, the Rare Beauty founder fashioned a cocktail dress by Australian fashion label Matičevski. The Amber cocktail dress, in a shade of pearl crush, featured a sculptural design and structure. The one-shouldered bodice of the dress featured gathered fabric that horizontally wrapped around the Gomez’s bust and arms, creating the illusion of a removable shawl.

The skirt of the ornate dress featured an angular cut, gathered to the side zipper of the dress. Gomez also fashioned jewelry by Tabayer to accessorize her look. The “Only Murders in the Building” star’s hair was pulled back into a sleek ponytail, styled by Orlando Pita.

The singer’s look was curated by stylist Erin Walsh, who’s also collaborated with Anne Hathaway, Juno Temple and Alison Brie, among other A-list clientele.

Gomez founded Rare Beauty in 2019, with her mental health initiative as a cornerstone of her makeup brand. “We center everything on wanting people to take care of themselves and love who they are, and have a safe place to share their stories,” she told WWD in 2023.

“I’ve heard really beautiful moments, like having someone walk through a divorce and actually being able to feel like she had a community to turn to. And then I will hear a young girl who has had self-esteem issues for so long and she dealt with a lot of mental health. And it’s just incredible to see how Rare has created that space.…I always cry when we read the comments.”

As for the fashion label behind Gomez’s look, one of Matičevski’s designs was recently worn by a close friend and colleague of the singer and actress. Taylor Swift fashioned the Matičevski Candescence gown for the “Fortnight” music video from her latest studio album “The Tortured Poets Department.” Similar to Gomez’s cocktail dress, the gown worn by Swift featured a sculptural silhouette and construction with an angular, rounded neckline.

The crisp pearl white cotton fabric gathers at the hip, framing the leg, and showcasing a high-low silhouette. The dress also features internal boning for a corset-like appearance.
