Halle Berry made her way to Washington, D.C., on Thursday for a news conference on bipartisan legislation to increase federal research on menopause and women’s midlife health. The Oscar-winning actress was joined by legislators from the Capitol.
For the occasion, Berry opted for power suit dressing with a springtime twist. The actress wore an orange wax coated notch lapel long blazer with a plumage-print long-sleeve button-up collared top paired with matching flared trousers by Roberto Cavalli.
Berry decided to forgo excessive jewelry, keeping her look polished with the focus on her colorful suit. Her hair was styled in soft waves that brushed just below her shoulders. The power suit was the ideal look for speaking on a subject that’s important to her.
Prior to this recent excursion, Berry joined First Lady Dr. Jill Biden for A Day of Unreasonable Conversation on March 25 in Los Angeles. At the event, Berry spoke candidly about her experience with menopause and perimenopause.
“I feel like I have razor blades in my vagina. I run to my gynecologist and I say, ‘Oh my God, what’s happening?’ It was terrible. He said, ‘You have the worst case of herpes I’ve ever seen.’ I’m like, ‘Herpes? I don’t have herpes. I realize after the fact, that is a symptom of perimenopause,” Berry recalled at the March event.
“My doctor had no knowledge and didn’t prepare me. That’s when I knew, ‘Oh my gosh, I’ve got to use my platform. I have to use all of who I am, and I have to start making a change and a difference for other women.’”
Berry’s public engagement comes after CinemaCon on April 10. The actress wore a midi skirt and the flowing NBD long-sleeve Eleni top by Revolve at the Las Vegas event, where she spoke about her forthcoming film “Never Let Go.”
