“Is everything for sale?” asked a shopper inside the Dioriviera pop-up boutique at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
“Everything you see is available to buy,” she was told.
“I’ll take these!” she exclaimed, holding a pair of white Dior sunglasses. “I usually like a bigger frame, but I’m loving these.”
The French luxury house has taken over the spa and pool of the hotel for the second consecutive year, transforming the setting, loungers and cabanas with a coral pink motif called Toile de Jouy Soleil. Launched in 2018 by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, the Dioriviera collection — from straw hats, tote bags and scarves to swimsuits and dresses — this year offers a color palette of turquoise, tangerine orange, coral, navy and white.
Bringing a Mediterranean holiday feel to L.A., Dior hosted a cocktail hour on Thursday for the occasion. All that was missing was sunshine, however; it was a chilly and cloudy evening.
“Not so Riviera without the sun,” chuckled a reporter.
It didn’t stop guests from sporting their summer wear, in silks, linens, sandals and loafers. Attendees included VIP Dior clients — wearing the latest collections — alongside Jennifer Meyer, Kelly Sawyer, Rachel Zoe, Tinx Najjar and Linda Ramone with JD King.
“Both of you are a vision,” a client told Ramone and King, who stood out among the crowd in their familiar eccentric styles.
“I love the shells,” Ramone said of the life-size seashell-covered giraffes, lions and monkeys surrounding the pool and pop-up space.
“I wonder if they’re giving those away,” joked a guest. “It’s a little hard to finagle one in my bag.”
The Beverly Hills Hotel location is one of six Dioriviera pop-ups, with additional installations in France, Turkey, China and South Korea. In L.A. it’ll be open through Sept. 2.
