Chris Evans has a new favorite costar on set. Thanks to a partnership with Jinx, a premium dog-food brand, Evans and his dog Dodger have joined forces in front of the camera – and for a good cause.

In an effort to make high-quality pet food more accessible and affordable, the actor started working with Jinx in 2022. As a dog lover himself, Evans tells PS the partnership “just made sense.” He adds, “There’s a foundation of integrity, of good intent with the company. They’re not just trying to make money, they’re actually trying to help dogs, and I believe in the mission that not only rich dogs should be able to eat nutritiously.”

In addition to being passionate about the brand’s mission, Evans loves that he gets to work with Dodger on photoshoots and promotional videos. “I was so worried the first time we got on set because [Dodger] has a lot of energy and he’s very social, easily distracted. But I tell you, when the camera was on him, he was dialed in. It was almost like he was posing,” Evans says. (When I suggest Dodger got his acting skills from his dad, Evans is quick to correct that it’s no comparison: “He’s better than me.”)

But working together isn’t the only activity the two enjoy. If they’re not at the dog park – the place Evans describes as Dodger’s “happy place” – Evans is bringing Dodger on set with him. And though Dodger has quickly climbed the ranks as one of Evan’s favorite costars, Evans isn’t sure which one of his costars Dodger loves the most.

“He liked Scarlett [Johansson], and he liked Ana [de Armas] because she has dogs too, so he kind of knew there were dogs in that trailer. But [Dodger] tends to like catering the best because they always have something to give him,” Evans says. Generally though, Dodger is a friend to everybody. “It’s his superpower,” Evans adds.

While the partnership with Jinx has been rewarding, it’s the everyday moments with Dodger that Evans appreciates the most. “His love for me is based on me. He has no idea that I’m an actor, he has no idea what movies I’ve been in. There’s just an honest purity,” Evans says. “Whether you’re having a rough day on set or just a rough day in your own head, spending some time with your dog tends to wash all the bad noise away.”

As Dodger continues to steal the spotlight with his modeling skills, it’s clear that, for Evans, the best role he could play is Dodger’s dad.
