Andra Day drew runway inspiration for her attire at the New York City premiere of her film “Exhibiting Forgiveness.” The Oscar-nominated actress joined the cast and creative team on Wednesday for the red carpet event.
For the occasion, Day opted for a skintight paint-illusion bodysuit courtesy of Rahul Mishra‘s fall 2024 couture collection. The bodysuit featured an ornately designed pattern with shades of black, white and gray, with brush stroke illusions that created an abstract aesthetic.
Day paired the ornate bodysuit with a pair of heels courtesy of Gianvito Rossi. She accessorized with dazzling earrings and rings by Maison H jewels.

The actress’ makeup was done by artist Porsche Cooper, with hair styled by Ikeyia Powell. Day’s look was curated by stylist Wouri Vice, who’s also collaborated with Issa Rae and H.E.R., among others.
Mishra adopted a spiritual approach for his fall 2024 couture collection, which debuted at Paris Couture Week last June. The Delhi-based Indian designer drew inspiration from the story of the Hindu god Brahma, whose son Brahmand is believed to be the creator of the universe.
“As his aura is growing, the universe is expanding — that is what they believe,” Mishra said. “For a long time, I wanted to capture the idea of aura through clothes.”
“Rather than opting to depict aura through colors, as is tradition, Mishra chose black, for its depth and mystery, plus the fact that dark energy and matter largely make up the universe,” WWD’s Jennifer Weil wrote in her review of the collection.
“Mishra decorated numerous looks with spiky nylon threads, to give a sense of aura hovering around a garment,” Weil wrote. “He plied metal, glass beads, rhinestones and sequins to fashion this body-conscious collection, which also included shocks of red and silver, as well as a cape festooned with multihued embroidered flowers.”
Day stars alongside André Holland in “Exhibiting Forgiveness,” which tells the story of an up-and-coming artist whose father, a recovering addict, unexpectedly visits him in search of forgiveness. The film hits theaters Oct. 18.
