Celebrity guests embraced all-black dressing for the opening night of Skims‘ first flagship in New York City on Thursday. Ciara, Phoebe Gates, Ashley Graham, Kelsea Ballerini and other stars attended the event in dark looks, combining pieces from Skims‘ lingerie collections with leather jackets, fur coats and edgy accessories.
Kim Kardashian, cofounder of Skims, hosted the celebration. The brand’s newest flagship is located at 647 Fifth Avenue, previously the site of the Versace store, and sits near other prominent brands like Cartier, Nike, Zara and Uniqlo. Rafael de Cárdenas created the store’s design.
In an exclusive interview with WWD published on Wednesday, Kardashian celebrated the store opening. “When we started Skims, we obviously had high hopes, but I never thought of retail and how that would look.…We were very focused on direct-to-consumer and everything online. So a Fifth Avenue store exceeds all of the expectations that I had,” she said.
This is another milestone for Skims, following the success of its collaboration with The North Face, which sold out in just five minutes and brought $5.4 million in media exposure for Skims’ within just 48 hours, according to recent data from Launchmetrics.
