Carey Mulligan nodded to ’90s style icon Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The actress promoted her new film “The Ballad Of Wallace Island” in two black and tan looks.
Mulligan first paired a cashmere knit with baggy jeans, changing into an oversized sweater and knit pencil skirt at the film’s premiere. Her second look also included a black overcoat and knee-high boots, evoking one of Bessette-Kennedy’s 1996 ensembles.
The late Calvin Klein publicist frequently colorblocked with neutrals. Following her honeymoon, she stepped out with John F. Kennedy Jr. in a tan skirt, a black v-neck jumper and brown leather boots, all by Prada.

“I like very classic colors, black, navy, grey and white,” Bessette-Kennedy said in a 1992 interview. “If I want to add some impact, I’ll do it with texture.”
At Sundance, Mulligan wore her blond tresses in a wavy bob, while her makeup consisted of brown eyeshadow, black eyeliner and a mauve lip.
The actress currently works with stylist Andrew Mukamal, who also counts Zoë Kravitz and Margot Robbie as clients.
Earlier this month, WWD exclusively revealed Mulligan as the face of Prada’s spring 2025 campaign. Photographed by Steven Meisel, it “explores the notion of plurality, simultaneously celebrating individuality and the ceaseless facets that comprise the complex identity of Prada — the multitudes that can be contained within a single whole,” read a statement from the company.
Backstage after the spring show in September, Miuccia Prada herself said that she and co-creative director Raf Simons “wanted to show there are many ways of being Prada.”
