To spread awareness about Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Kendra Scott has created a limited-edition collaboration collection with Austin-based fashion, beauty and lifestyle influencer Nasreen Shahi.
Shahi said that through her close partnership with Kendra Scott and as a breast cancer survivor herself, she wanted to celebrate the community and the people who rallied around her during her battle and all other breast cancer survivors.
“Breast Cancer Awareness Month is one of the most important moments of the year for the Kendra Scott family,” said Michelle Peterson, chief marketing officer of Kendra Scott. “This partnership gave us an opportunity to spotlight a meaningful cause close to our hearts, celebrate Nasreen in an authentic way, and honor anyone battling or impacted by breast cancer. With this collection, every item in the suite gives back to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), a pivotal milestone for the Kendra Scott brand.”
The five-piece assortment includes two necklaces, two earrings, and a bracelet that are all named after Shahi’s mother Ashrafa and her maiden name Mayel — the influencer’s main source of inspiration when designing the collection.
Specifically, Shahi was inspired by her mother’s immigrant journey and sees the collection as a symbol of hope. Tying in her Pakistani and Afghan heritage, the evil eye of protection on the Ashrafa bracelet and Ashrafa necklace symbolizes strength, positivity and protection.
“The eye of protection has been used for centuries to signify positivity and a deflection of negativity,” said Shahi. “During my treatment and throughout my life, this symbol was close to my heart, and for this collection, we decided to take a contemporary approach to the typically blue motif with an emerald crystal accent.”
And unlike many breast cancer collections, Shahi’s collab doesn’t include the typical hue associated with the month. She notes that she wanted to feature colors beyond pink for a versatile style that can be worn individually or layered with other everyday jewelry staples.
Kendra Scott said it will donate 20 percent of every purchase from the Kendra Scott x Nasreen Shahi collection up to $185,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Additionally, Kendra Scott is committed to donating $250,000 to BCRF and The Pink Agenda to help support its mission to advance research and eradicate breast cancer.
“It was important for me to collaborate with a brand that’s committed to breast cancer research, resources and remission organizations,” said Shahi. “Through Kendra Scott’s Yellow for Pink initiative and ongoing partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, my hope is that this collaboration will continue the legacy of those who have passed away from the disease by funding critical research, supporting families affected by cancer, and encouraging those undergoing treatment.”
The collection ranges from $55 to $80. The Kendra Scott x Nasreen Shahi collection is available online and at Kendra Scott in retail stores.
