Trending Nordstrom Finds for Fall 2025

New York Fashion Week has officially ended, and whether that means you’re giving yourself some well-deserved R&R after sitting front-row at shows or spending hours skimming the breakdowns of every look that graced the runways on social media, we can all agree that the street-style equations of NYC’s fashion set this past week have given us priceless inspiration for autumnal dressing.

It’s one thing for a major designer to proclaim a material, color, or silhouette as the be-all and end-all trend of the season; it’s a very different story, however, when fashion insiders actually breathe life into these trend predictions and surprise us with creative-as-can-be outfit mashups on city streets, during one of the most important events on New York’s cultural calendar.

This year, we spotted fashionistas outside shows from PatBo to Calvin Klein donning meticulously curated pieces that repped the brands they were visiting while adding personalized touches in the form of jewelry, footwear, or accessories like scarves. While the overarching ethos seemed to be “anything goes” this year, unifying themes did pop up and are here to guide you as you start the new season on a high note (that is, with a long-overdue shopping spree).

First off, suede was given priority, whether this manifested on handbags, skirts, outerwear, or boots. But when it comes to the latter, the style-savvy also wasn’t afraid of experimentation, stepping out in blue denim–swathed booties, those punctuated by twisted, sculptural heels, or styles whose blocky, oversized nature played off the smaller proportions of their other ‘fit choices.

Another NYFW obsession? Athletic-inspired clothing. Right on the heels of the US Open, city-dwellers were all too quick to embrace tenniscore staples like tennis skirts and dresses, as well as bright jerseys tucked into more sophisticated midi skirts; cropped pullovers with the literal word “Sporty” embroidered on the front; windbreakers à la fall 2025 runways’ gorpcore fascination; and athletic shorts in primary colors that referenced Adidas’ Sprinter Short (which clinched the third-place spot on Lyst Index’s Q2 2025 report).

Then there were the usual suspects, including blazers, all manner of pleated bottoms for added textural appeal, hats from the pillbox to the cowboy, and maximalist prints. What we didn’t anticipate, though, was just how eager NYFW attendees would be to tap into TikTok’s kidcore trend this year, even more so than in 2024. Punctuated by everything from embellished swim caps to playful jewelry pairings, the relevant ensembles sent a clear message: It’s really not that serious.

Going off of what we saw most of amidst these competing sartorial narratives, the five top trends of Fashion Week were, in no particular order — zebra prints with a little oomph behind them, be it through color or material; the aforementioned athlete-off-court getups; jewel tones across everything (but made especially effective in subtle doses); berets that were très chic and slightly more wearable than Copenhagen Fashion Week’s crochet hats; as well as… wait for it… sequins used as eye-catching personal statements.

Ralph Lauren Zebra Print Crepe Shirtdress

You’ve heard about leopard print and snake print before, but fall 2025 is all about the graceful zebra: We said what we said. Those who were religiously tracking the street-style formulas of NYC’s best-dressed denizens have likely spotted this pattern in various iterations, spanning clutches, silky halter dresses, maxi skirts worn by the likes of Shailene Woodley, and asymmetric gowns in the vein of what comedian Chloe Fineman sported outside the Khaite show.

For a more office-ready, wear-everywhere pick that still stays true to the bold stripes, go with this shirtdress from Ralph Lauren. Made out of crêpe de chine, it will prove breathable during the warmest moments of autumn while dishing out glamour via its wrap-style skirt, angular collar, and sleeves adorned by cutesy button cuffs. The dress is here to take you from the evening meeting to happy-hour espresso martinis in no time, adding extra elegance to the mix by way of that cream and brown color combination.

Sporty & Rich Bold Health Nylon Windbreaker

Too bold and bright for fall? There can be no such thing, as guests at this September’s NYFW proved quite masterfully. We witnessed no shortage of sports-coded stylings in the span of the past week, and a lot of them — think oversized jerseys and loose track shorts — benefitted from vibrant hues that didn’t exactly match the rest of the outfit in question. But that was the whole point. Both the “wrong coat” and “wrong shoe” theories are alive and well as we speak, and we’re inviting you to test them out for yourself with Sporty & Rich’s Bold Health Nylon Windbreaker: a picture-perfect example of the gorpcore trend at play, which matches waterproof jackets to hiking boots, beanies, and other outdoorsy apparel in an unlikely symphony of competing textures and colors. It will keep you safe from the upcoming weather shifts, yes, but also pack nicely for travels, mesh well with darker denims, and turn no insignificant amount of heads on the street.

Adidas SL 72 Sneaker

We don’t take the word “viral” lightly around here, but it’s safe to say that’s exactly what Adidas’ SL 72 shoe is. Worn by tastemakers like Alexa Chung, Bella Hadid, Suki Waterhouse, and your favorite Instagram micro-influencers, the SL 72 checks all the boxes: being a slim, low-profile, retro sneaker that keeps you comfortable all day thanks to its cushioned insole, EVA midsole, pavement-gripping outsole, and textured tongue. In its “Semi Court Green/Court Green/Semi Lucid Fuchsia” shade, the stylish stepper will be a full-of-life match for your more subdued fall go-tos. And, seeing as how jewel tones like emerald green are so in right now, you just might find your footwear doppelgänger out in the wild this season.

Brunello Cucinelli Wool Beret

No matter if you wish to replicate Belly’s on-screen style in the last few episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty or have a soft spot for beret appearances in Old Hollywood–era films, getting this Brunello Cucinelli one will serve you well during the cold-weather months of 2025 and onward. Berets seemed to be everywhere this NYFW, spotlighted in fiddler-cap silhouettes or traditionally slouchy ones and made out in glossy leather that was in fluent conversation with purses, skirts, and more. Brunello Cucinelli’s interpretation relies on the quality of pure wool fibers, for an accessory that’s as baby-soft as it is warming. (Practicality and style hand in hand? We love to see it!)

Veronica Beard Collier Sequin Flare Leg Pants

A new arrival at Nordstrom, these flared pants from Veronica Beard will make you the life of the party in every last setting: from the annual conference to the dance floor. Those feeling shy about walking outside in something so shiny need not be, as NYFW attendees this year made it clear that sequins are one of the hottest trends right now. We saw them in all colors imaginable (from gold to bright-red to mint green), on articles of clothing like wide-leg capri pants, maxi skirts, billowing trousers, sky-high stilettos, and short-sleeved shirts. The high-shine adornments, which also come in a variety of shapes, are nothing if not nostalgia-inducing and fun-loving.

Wear them with reckless abandon in the next months without completely losing your head, and, to master this equilibrium, resort to this pants pick specifically. Skinny, marked by a luxe brownish colorway, and dripping in texture, they’re about to become every girl’s best friend… forget the diamonds.
