Cardi B is bringing out her inner animal.
Alongside the likes of Dua Lipa and Diplo, the 32-year-old rapper attended Mistr’s National PrEP Day on Thursday night in an effort to help destigmatize HIV prevention, and she did so with a wild new hairdo. In place of her jet-black extensions, Cardi B, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, painted the top front layers of her hair white.
Stark streaks cut across the right and left sides of her head, from the roots down, over her signature black color. Under certain lights, the ends of Cardi B’s hair looked as if they had been dip-dyed in a navy blue shade. Regardless, the style was a fresh iteration of the Y2K-beloved calico color trend, which saw several A-listers such as Lindsay Lohan bleach isolated sections of their hair. Cardi B often works with Miami-based stylist Tokyo Stylez; however, she did not credit her as the talent behind her hairdo on Thursday. WWD has reached out to Stylez for confirmation.

Stylez has famously brought Cardi B’s varying personas to life through new cuts and color changes. Together, the Grammy winner has made her way around the color wheel, sporting every hue from platinum to copper and bubblegum pink. She’s worn micro bangs, bobs and side parts, with a color pattern reminiscent of a fox tail. Most recently, Stylez tied extra-long pink extensions into Cardi B’s hair for her upcoming “Little Miss Drama” tour flyer.
Her makeup at the PrEP event consisted of her trademark angled eyebrows, sharp purple cat-eye shadow, wispy top lashes and a burgundy wine lip liner. A single rhinestone was placed just below the outer corner of her left eye under a thin swipe of icy highlighter. Meanwhile, Cardi B chopped her usual talons to the edge of her fingertips, boasting her natural nail shape under a deep burgundy hue. She’s yet to credit the makeup and nail artists who helped with her look.
The on-stage performer’s appearance on Thursday comes just weeks after her latest album drop titled “Am I the Drama?” On the album cover, Cardi B appeared again with a Cruella de Vil-like aesthetic. Here, a silver streak was cast away from her slicked-updo, standing straight in the air in front of her wide-brimmed collar. Her black almond-shaped nails were twice the size of her fingers, while her eyebrows settled on a level plane above her eyes.
