Alo on Thursday unveiled the expansion of its luxury handbag category. The wellness brand’s offering now includes three new mini versions of its signature silhouettes.

The expanded collection features the Voyage, Odyssey and Balance bucket bags in new mini sizes. The brand said the size was created with “the girl-on-the-go” in mind and is a “playful take on effortless luxe.”

“Our Alo girl is trend-forward, so the minis really came from what we were seeing in fashion and on our own customers,” Abby Gordon, chief design and merchandising officer at Alo, told WWD. “We saw that some of them were already gravitating toward smaller bags and we knew that our signature silhouettes were perfectly suited to be reimagined in mini form.”

The mini Voyage bag was inspired by the brand’s signature gym-bag silhouette, the mini Odyssey’s bowler shape is a take on the structured bag and the mini Balance Bucket bag is a slouchy style for both day and night.

The trio of minis launches in both black and Espresso leather, as an extension of the existing Bag collection — alongside bright red leather to align with the new hue drop for its clothing collection that launched on Wednesday. Moving forward, the mini bags will continue to launch with limited-edition new colorways throughout the year.

Alo said the existing Bag line is an evolution of the Atelier collection and is meeting the Alo girl “where she is in the luxury, wellness space” and “providing her with a wellness accessory that is as refined and elevated as her.”

Drawing from Alo’s studio-to-street philosophy, the Intention crystals created by Alo for the original luxury bag launch were reimagined into smaller crystals for the mini bags. Alo is now also selling the Intention crystals individually, to allow for personalization and stackability. The new additions to the Intention crystals collection include clear quartz, rose quartz and amethyst.

Gordon said that by adding Alo crystals to the bags, the brand is bringing wellness into the luxury sector — and dresses up the bags like a piece of jewelry.

“These petite beauties add something special to the mini bags and carry a reminder of intentional living even with the little moments,” Gordon said. “They’re rooted in wellness, but finished in a way that feels elevated, collectible and very modern.”

For Alo, accessories have been a major category within its product assortment since the brand’s inception. Yoga socks, barre socks, bags, hats, scrunchies and cozy socks are a major part of Alo’s consumer touchpoints to bring its wellness ethos and lifestyle to customers every day.

“Our community lives a life on the go, so it was important for us to design a mini version of our signature silhouette for the days when you don’t need a full-size bag,” Gordon said. “These minis have you covered for wellness walks, your Pilates class or an impromptu dinner with friends.”

Looking ahead, Gordon hinted that there was more to come from Alo as it builds on its accessory categories and that the company is focused on growing while remaining true to the brand’s DNA.

The mini bags will be available from Thursday online and in select Alo Sanctuaries globally and retail for $1,200.
