The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute will be welcoming a fashion-centric crowd at the next installment of the “Atelier With Alina Cho” on Jan. 27, when Erdem Moralioglu will be in the spotlight.

The London-based creative director will have plenty to unpack with the Emmy-winning journalist. His namesake company is celebrating its 20-year anniversary, and he has released a 368-page tome entitled “Erdem” with Rizzoli.

The guest of honor has a true and tested appreciation for the arts. Moralioglu, who was tapped as a member of the board of trustees at the British Museum in October, uses historical research in his design process. That cultural institution in London is one that he knows well, having staged several of his fashion shows there. Last fall, the designer marked another milestone with the opening of his second London store — on Sloane Street — with the help of P.Joseph Architecture & Design. Erdem also has two outposts in South Korea.

At next month’s 6 p.m. ticketed event at The Met, attendees will learn about the independent designer’s inspirations, approach to design, intricate craftsmanship and collaborative spirit. Anna Wintour, Christian Lacroix, Charlie Porter, Hanya Yanagihara, Glenn Close and Ruthie Rogers are some of the creative powers that he has joined forces with.

Made possible by the Doris & Stanley Tananbaum Foundation in memory of Doris Tananbaum, the “Atelier With Alina Cho” series debuted in 2014, when Cho spoke with Wintour and the Costume Institute’s chief curator in charge Andrew Bolton. Next month’s Q&A will be the first one in more than a year, since Thom Browne sat down for an interview last fall. Moralioglu will join the ranks of Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Vera Wang, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Donatella Versace, Christopher John Rogers, Olivier Rousteing and other designers, who have participated.
