Chocolate brown suede has been everywhere lately — and Kate Middleton leaned into the winter shoe trend while coordinating with Prince William during a visit to Charing Cross Hospital in west London on Thursday.
The Princess of Wales returned to one of her most familiar silhouettes for the royal visit alongside her husband: Gianvito Rossi’s Gianvito 105 pumps in brown suede. The pointed-toe style had a slim stiletto heel, smooth suede upper and a low-cut vamp that showed the top of the foot. While this particular shade was not available on Gianvito Rossi’s site as of publication, the label expanded the Gianvito 105 line in September with a 30-shade offering, adding a range of neutrals and deeper tones around the core pointed-pump silhouette.
The choice continues a suede-heavy run for Middleton, who has regularly relied on the label’s pointed profiles in pumps and boots. In November, she wore black suede Gianvito 105 pumps for the Festival of Remembrance at London’s Royal Albert Hall, pairing them with an Alessandra Rich black-and-white peplum dress and a Mulberry Bayswater clutch in black suede. In December, she opted for suede blue Gianvito Rossi boots to accompany a structured blue McQueen coat for the German state visit welcome ceremony. Later that month, she returned to brown suede Gianvito Rossi boots for the family’s annual Christmas church service.

Middleton paired the pumps with a maroon suit by Roland Mouret — a single-breasted blazer and matching wide-leg trousers over a high-neck blouse in the same color — and carried a small brown suede top-handle bag with gold hardware. Prince William wore a deep brown blazer with a navy sweater, navy trousers and dark brown suede lace-up shoes, keeping both looks in the same chocolate palette.
The hue has surfaced across other recent celebrity wardrobes as well. Mariah Carey wore midcalf brown suede boots during her Aspen trip in December, Sydney Sweeney coordinated brown suede booties with Scooter Braun’s dark brown penny loafers on a New York City date the month before, and Kate Hudson chose chocolate brown suede boots for a October 2025 “Song Sung Blue” screening in Los Angeles.
The Charing Cross visit also marked the Waleses’ first joint engagement of 2026, where they met staff and volunteers working under winter NHS pressures, thanked them for their efforts and spoke about compassion and holistic care in recovery.
Middleton isn’t the only celebrity who keeps Gianvito Rossi pumps on constant rotation, either. Below, see what other stars love to wear the Italian label’s footwear.
