Nike’s Foamposite technology has been venerated in basketball, the sport is expressly created for; attempts to bring it into tennis have been much more fraught.
Andre Agassi was supposed to be the face of the Courtposite when it released in 2002, but he refused to play in the shoe and was far from alone in considering it too stiff to wear on the court. Much later, a newer model with the same molded upper tech leaked in 2019 but only wound up releasing through outlets and discounts stores.
The Nike Vapor X Posite is now returning for another go-around, as leaks indicate the sneaker will return seven years later through proper Swoosh channels. Two colorways are slated to release late this summer, one borrowing the popular “Copper” treatment from the Air Foamposite One and another in “Metallic Orange.”

Mixing the worlds of basketball and tennis, the Vapor X Posite features the same sole unit as the Vapor X tennis shoe released in 2017 and originally made for Roger Federer. The upper then borrows heavily from the Air Foamposite One, not just in the use of the namesake material and process, but also with the weaving lines of its mold and the shape of its eyestay, collar and heel.
Another hybrid version of the Vapor X was made in 2017, as multiple colorways released with the upper from Kyrie Irving’s Nike Kyrie 5 in 2019.
The Courtposite also got a do-over recently, as Supreme collaborated on the model in 2023 with modern star Carlos Alcaraz debuting one of the colorways on his Instagram.
The Nike Vapor X Posite “Copper” and “Metallic Orange” will release Aug. 30 through Nike’s website. Pricing is set at $170.
