Hailey Bieber is changing the tune of her signature summer nail shade.
On Sunday, following the 2026 World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium, the style mogul accompanied her partner, Justin Bieber, to his exclusive after party, hosted by Skylrk, in New York City, donning a burgundy lace slipdress with oval sunglasses, thong sandals, a long bob and cornflower-colored nails.
While it’s not unusual for Bieber to sport a non-neutral nail, the solid style marked a major deviation from the sparkle-dusted aesthetic, dubbed “glazed doughnut,” that she’s favored for the last few years. It did, however, effectively embellish the deep rich hues of her minidress, catching the camera flash as she sauntered down the sidewalk, her husband in tow.

Celebrities, particularly Bieber and her friends, have been rewriting their own summer nail rules all season. Where milky pink, chrome nudes and baby blue hues once reigned supreme, bolder — arguably edgier — shades such as tomato red, midnight blue, plum and inky black have emerged. And yet, at the same time, “no-mani mani” nails have taken flight, with beauty insiders encouraging the minimalistic entrants to keep their “soap nails” — the pale pink and pearly white color fad onset by Tom Bachik, artist to Selena Gomez, last year — but add a translucent overcast.
Speaking with WWD in June, Stephanie Stone, celebrity nail artist for Sally Hansen, said: “Right now, I’m loving sheer, ultra-glossy manicures. They feel soft, polished and timeless, which is exactly why they’re such a natural fit for wedding season and summer in general.”
At one point or another, the Rhode founder could have been considered a “no-mani mani” fan — but she’s retired now. She may occassionally revert to the “clean girl” aesthetic she coined, but her recent nail designs have proved to be the opposite. In December of last year, Bieber broke into the animal-print category, debuting a leopard-spotted set by her longtime manicurist, Zola Ganzorigt, artist to Kylie Jenner, Sabrina Carpenter and more.
A few months later, at the 68th annual Grammy Awards, took a walk on the wild side again, sporting a complex color combination that consisted of four OPI polish shades: “Barefoot in Barcelona,” “Cliffside Karaoke,” “You Don’t Know Jacques!” and “Big Apple Red.” Indeed, the risks Bieber takes in the beauty department are always balanced by a modest fashion uniform, whether it’s blue jeans and a baby T-shirt or black capris and a leather jacket.
