Some 76 leading galleries will participate in the inaugural Art Week NYC, a citywide event taking place Nov. 11-14.
The gallery program, presented by Artforum, is the cornerstone of the event, bringing together renowned galleries shaping the contemporary art world. Artforum, like WWD, is owned by Penske Media Corp.’s PMX division.
Art Week NYC will celebrate the conversations, communities and creative exchange that make New York one of the world’s most vibrant art cities. Participating galleries include Hauser & Wirth, Gagosian, David Zwirner, Pace Gallery, Lisson, Paula Cooper Gallery and many others across the city’s gallery districts, including Chelsea, Tribeca, the Lower East Side and the Upper East Side.
“Our vision for Art Week NYC began with the galleries,” said Danielle McConnell, publisher of Artforum. “The galleries are where artists are discovered, careers are built, and the conversation around contemporary art moves forward. By bringing them together under one citywide platform we’re creating an experience that reflects the strength and diversity of New York’s gallery community. We’re excited to invite audiences to see art where it is best seen, at the galleries and museums across the city.”
