Ralph Lauren’s spring 2027 show kicked off New York Fashion Week technically one day ahead of schedule, meaning we got our first look at celebrities in leathers and knits in this classic end-of-summer New York heat.
“We’re inching into it, we’re getting into it,” Cynthia Erivo said of fall dressing. Erivo was dressed in a military-style jacket and trousers in the front row, next to Viola Davis and her husband, Julius Tennon.
“A good knitwear, and I like leather,” Erivo added of her fall wardrobe favorites.

“I love leather, because it’s strong,” Davis said. “More feminine.”
Each shares an early Ralph Lauren memory: Erivo’s first item was a gift from a friend, also a military-style jacket, before she made her own first purchase.
“The first time I bought a piece myself was at the flagship here in New York,” she said. “It was this sequined Polo dress that was beautiful. I still have it.”
“I don’t have a first memory — I have no hormones,” Davis quipped. “But I have to tell you, I love his documentary. He was the first designer I remember that just stood out to me, especially with the model, what’s his name? [Tyson Beckford]. That was it for me.”
Elsewhere in the front row, Meghann Fahy and Rachel Brosnahan introduced themselves to “Sterling Point” breakout Amélie Hoeferle.
“I think it’s just so sweet,” Hoeferle said afterward of receiving love for the show. “Every time it happens, it’s like a disbelief moment for me because it’s like our summer is being watched. Like, how do you guys know about what we’ve done?”
The Prime Video hit was recently renewed for a second season, which means Hoeferle will be back to set in the near future.
“I still can’t believe that we get to go back and sort of relive that in a way,” she said. “I feel so lucky and so thankful. I’m really excited to see where the story goes.”
