Halloween 2026 is in full swing on “The Jennifer Hudson Show.” The singer invited a few talents on the show today, in costume, of course, including Gabourey Sidibe and Janelle Monae. The set was even decked out in a fairy-tale theme, which just so happened to match Hudson’s costume.
Winning the internet’s approval, Sidibe knocked it out of the park in a Drake look, inspired by the rapper’s viral 40th birthday look featuring a sweeping fringe shawl. The “American Horror Story” actress’s ensemble was a one-to-one replica down to the details, featuring the meme-worthy boho shawl in a tan hue worn with a stretchy black long-sleeve and black pants. To coordinate with her top and bottom, and to stay true to the original look, Sidibe wore pointed-toe black boots with a high-shine finish and block heels.
Sidibe completed the look with bushy facial hair inspired by Drake’s prominent scruff. Drake’s original look has since been dubbed “Pumpkin Spice Papi.” The center piece of the musician’s look is a vintage number hailing from Hermès, designed by Martin Margiela. Said shawl, along with all of Drake’s other 40th birthday ensembles, was sourced by stylist Juliet Charlotte. Later on in the evening, Drake swapped his fringe-heavy shawl for a sparkling black suit accompanied by a brooch-laden bow tie.
Equally as striking and certainly worthy of going viral, Monae arrived on the show in a “fish boy” costume, a campy choice. It consisted of full aquatic prosthetics that covered the musician’s face, arms, and hands. The realistic prosthetics were paired with a pinstriped suit, making the singer look quite dandy. The suit consisted of a bronze-and-black striped vest and shorts, which they wore with knee-high socks and a crisp white button-down featuring voluminous sleeves. During the show, Monae shared that their costumes, like this fish boy moment, are planned at least two to three years in advance.
Hudson stuck to the earthly animal theme, but headed in the insect route, dressed as a butterfly. Said butterfly costume was exceedingly colorful, featuring hints of light and dark blue and purple with black accents. The “If This Isn’t Love” singer’s costume boiled down to three parts and gigantic wings that spanned almost the entirety of the stage.
There was a light blue shrug made of an iridescent fabric that transitioned into a corseted top and a pencil skirt featuring an asymmetric hem. To complete her butterfly look, Hudson wore a black velvet hat topped with antennae. During the show, the performer revealed that her son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., is dressing up as Wolverine for Halloween.
