Reebok is bringing Allen Iverson’s signature sneaker legacy into the modern performance basketball footwear conversation with a new Recoded upgrade that maintains the original look and feel of the classic Question Mid model.
Set to arrive at retail in November is the Reebok Question Mid Recoded, a modernized update of Iverson’s first signature shoe in celebration of its 30th anniversary. Comparable to Nike’s Kobe Protro concept, the Reebok Question Mid Recoded maintains the sneaker’s beloved original design while reengineering the underfoot experience with updated cushioning and traction. According to Reebok, the Recoded iteration is intended to bring the Question Mid’s classic look to a new generation of basketball players.

As the first sneaker in Reebok’s Recoded range, the Question Mid Recoded features an updated traction pattern on its icy rubber outsole while adding a super critical foam pod to the midsole for lightweight cushioning. This is further enhanced with the addition of a midsole stability plate to give players improved control. And while the sneaker’s upper appears mostly the same from a glance, it’s also been tweaked to offer a more forgiving fit.
The Reebok Question Mid Recoded will launch in two colorways: the sneaker’s original Red Toe look and an all-new 30th Anniversary Green style.
“This shoe has always been about doing things your way and not asking for permission. The Question Mid Recoded keeps that same energy alive for the next generation,” Iverson said in a press release.
Anthony Hale, a basketball footwear designer at Reebok, said in a press release that the brand’s goal with Recoded was to honor the elements that made the original Question Mid iconic. This meant staying true to the original silhouette that’s become ingrained in Iverson’s DNA. Rebuilding this shoe for the modern hooper to live in and play in simply meant injecting our latest tech and understanding of how a basketball shoe should feel and perform,” Hale said.
The Reebok Question Mid Recoded will be released in the U.S. on Nov. 10 for $170 from reebok.com and exclusively at Foot Locker with a global launch following on Nov. 16. On Nov. 10, Foot Locker and Reebok will host a special pop-up event honoring Iverson’s contributions to basketball and style at Philadelphia’s Bok Building located at 1901 S 9th Street.
