I don’t know if it’s my TikTok “For You” page influencing me, but over the last few months, I’ve become obsessed with body-care products, particularly as a means of layering my fragrances. I’ve come to learn the best hack for smelling good all day long is using a body wash and lotion or oil with complementary scent profiles.
One of my absolute favorite notes is vanilla, making gourmand perfumes my thing. As such, I’ve set out to find more body products with those sweet, warm profiles, and it’s like Sol de Janeiro decided to make a product specially for me. The Delícia Drench Body Butter ($48) has a delicious, sweet gourmand scent with notes of velvet plum, sugared violet, and whipped amber, and despite being at the center of some unexpected controversy, I fell in love. Read ahead to read my thoughts on the body moisturizer.
About the Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Body Butter
- It’s a whipped formulation particularly well suited for dry skin.
- The body butter has notes of sugared violet, vanilla orchid, whipped amber, and sheer sandalwood.
- Standout ingredients in the formula include hyaluronic acid, Bacuri butter, and shea butter – all of which help to deeply hydrate and moisturize the skin.
What I Like About the Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Body Butter
In the past, I’ve typically been a bigger fan of Sol de Janeiro’s perfume mists over its body lotions. However, after my first time using this new formulation, I knew I had a winner on my hands. The whipped texture immediately reminded me of one of my favorite Hanhana Beauty shea butters, easily spreading onto the skin and leaving behind a slight sheen. While some formulas containing this ingredient can leave skin feeling greasy and transfer onto your clothes, this one left behind a noticeable glow without just sitting on top of the skin. This meant that I could put it on and head out the door immediately without worrying about it coming off on everything I touched.
How to Use the Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Body Butter
Like any other lotion, you can apply this body butter to the skin below my neck, paying close attention to any areas that need some extra moisture, like the arms, legs, hands, and feet. While I don’t have any sensitivities to fragrance in body-care products, I sometimes get breakouts on my chest and shoulders, so just to be safe, I usually use something unscented there or skip the area altogether. Do note that a little goes a long way with this; it’s extremely thick, so one dollop of the butter can cover an entire area of the body.
What to Consider Before Trying the Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Body Butter
The singular drawback to this product is its price tag of almost $50. If you want to have a treat-yourself moment or have it in your budget to spend that much on body butter, I truly couldn’t recommend this enough.
