As much as I love a medium-to-full coverage complexion product, there’s something about a lightweight, glowy foundation or tinted moisturizer that will always reel me in. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the new Kosas BB Burst Cream ($38) was a product that immediately climbed to the top of my “must-try” list the moment that it was released.
Replacing the brand’s tinted face oil, this product follows in its predecessor’s footsteps. The balm combines skin-care ingredients with colored pigments to create an elevated “your skin but better” look that the brand claims will provide a vibrant, fresh finish. I’m already a big fan of some of the other Kosas products, like the concealer and foundation, so I had to try this one as well. I got the shade 40, which was the closest to my skin tone. Keep reading for my review.
About the Kosas BB Burst Cream
- The product comes in 24 shades to suit deep and light skin tones.
- The cream comes in an airless pump applicator, which allows for easy application.
- Standout ingredients include copper peptides, zinc, and sodium PCA, which help to plump, soothe, and hydrate the skin, respectively.
What I Like About the Kosas BB Burst Cream
I much prefer the packaging of this cream to the original tinted oil, as it feels much easier to control how much you dispense. As for the tinted moisturizer itself, the gel feels incredibly cool on the skin and the glow that it leaves behind makes it look as if I had just applied my favorite moisturizer.
It is also a buildable product, but if you’re looking for full or even medium coverage, it’s not that type of formula. When I layered it on, the coverage went from sheer to light. In that same vein, it’s great for blurring the skin, especially if you have visible discoloration – your skin will glimmer in this really beautiful and healthy-looking way.
How to Use the Kosas BB Burst Cream
This is just like any other liquid complexion product, making it extremely straightforward to use. I opted for my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush ($10) and painted the product on, making sure to blend as I went.
What to Consider About the Kosas BB Burst Cream
Given that this product is so sheer, I would only recommend it if you’re looking for a little coverage, even though the brand claims that it is buildable. Should you want to cover up any raised acne spots, the sheerness of the formula combined with the glow it leaves behind may enhance the texture. If this is a concern of yours, the BB cream would make a great primer underneath a full-coverage foundation.
