Action Bronson and New Balance have rolled out 11 sneaker collaborations since joining forces in 2023, and they’re charting new territory by debuting an entirely fresh model together.

The Action Bronson x New Balance 1890 “Cyborg Tears” serves as an introduction for the brand-new sneaker with tear drop-like lines throughout its upper. Expected as the first of two collaborative colorways, “Cyborg Tears” is defined by a blue-on-blue look with a purple mesh tongue, aqua “N” logo and a grayscale sole unit and heel. A bright pop of red then arrives through the midsole Abzorb units, which run nearly full-length from the heel just up to the toes.

“Hornet Tusk” will follow with more prominent white and gray elements accented by yellow, blue and green.

Messaging for the first 1890 release is fully a go, but New Balance has yet to deliver its own messaging on the model. It arrives as the latest in a string of new lifestyle models anchored in the 2000s, including the the Abzorb 2000 and Abzorb 2010. This month will also bring the launch of the Gator Run, a low-profile sneaker owing to the more distant past and with a crocodile-textured leather upper.

Curiously, 1890 is also the model number that’s surfaced for a moccasin-sneaker hybrid from New Balance that’s yet to be released.

The Action Bronson x New Balance 1890 “Cyborg Tears” is open for entries for an early access release Thursday through Action Bronson’s website. A wider release will then follow Friday on the same site. Pricing has not yet been confirmed.
