Say what you want about “hot girl summer,” but real ones know that fall is the horniest season of the year. There’s just something about the crisp air, cozy vibes, and the innate desire to find a “big boy” for cuffing season (shoutout to SZA) that affects libidos everywhere.
Whether it’s the thrill of spooky season or because pumpkin-flavored treats are pseudo-aphrodisiacs, fall just really has a way of making people want to explore every new kink and fetish out there. Below, relationship expert Nicole Moore explains why.

Why Is Fall So Horny?
Summer may have been all about working through your roster like it’s an Olympic sport, but fall is the time when people get serious about finding one person to consistently keep them orgasming all winter long. Enter: cuffing season, the time period between fall and spring when singles tend to shift their focus on to one person to hold through the winter months.
During cuffing season, people are simply more DTF and inclined to couple-up because they want to secure someone before hibernation mode sets in. Since most people lose willpower to go out and meet new people once temperatures drop, testing out your different cuff contenders in the fall allows you to have an even more fun winter. “When fall hits, your body acts like an agent on the mission of finding someone for you, and it ramps up the horniness to increase your chances of making a connection,” Moore says.
You also have to consider the temperature drop in the fall. While people may claim summer sex is the best, the excessive sweat and body odor might suggest otherwise. Fortunately in the fall, that’s not something you have to worry about. No need to worry about excessive heat or cold in the fall, it’s the perfect middle ground.
Even when you look at the fashion choices for fall versus summer, Moore says that wearing more clothes can help people feel more comfortable, and since comfort can be linked to confidence, it’s an excellent recipe for even better sex. “There’s something about fall fashion that makes people genuinely excited to dress up and feel their best in clothing, and this can translate into confidence in their skin, which may lead to them feeling more frisky,” Moore adds.
Another huge reason why fall is the horniest time of year: Halloween. The October holiday is undoubtedly the sexiest time of year. “The chance to be anything or anyone on Halloween is a huge turn on to many people, and it can help them become a less inhibited version of themselves for a night, which can definitely lead to more sex,” Moore says. Halloween is basically your chance to role-play for the night, and this transformation can make you feel sexy and mysterious.
If you’re still not convinced fall is the horniest season of the year, just think about it the next time you throw on a cozy sweater or attend a Halloween party this fall. I can’t promise you you’ll have the best orgasm of your life, but you will definitely feel the vibes.
