At a time when “frugal beauty” is shaping the cultural climate and finding its footing on luxury runways like Cult Gaia, Zendaya is boasting her own version on the carpet.
The “Euphoria” star stepped out at the 78th annual Emmy Awards on Monday night in Los Angeles as both a nominee and presenter, sporting a textured pixie courtesy of celebrity hair artist Coree Moreno.
Shaggy and teased all over, her dark brown ends appeared like a messier version of the flapper pixie. Where the quintessential form would typically sit in neat waves across the head, Zendaya’s short layers were intentionally styled every which way, but not in the Y2K teenage spiky-boy aesthetic.

In an official press release, Moreno dubbed the look “The Modern Sculpted Pixie” and detailed his five-step process, starting with prep and repair. “I began by prepping the hair with Schwarzkopf KERATÎME Deep Repair Detangling Treatment, working it throughout the hair to create a silky, conditioned and manageable foundation. I followed with the KERATÎME Hair Bonding Oil to add an extra layer of smoothness and shine while helping the hair feel soft and polished,” Moreno said.
“Because this look relies on manipulating short sections while maintaining softness, I wanted the hair to feel supple and healthy before introducing heat and texture,” he continued.
Next, Moreno blow-dried Zendaya’s hair with the Mini Shine Boost Gloss Infusion Daily Boar Brush and misted the göt2b glued 2-in-1 Spray Wax at the crown of her head for grip and texture. He then took the ghd Sculpt Interactive Hair Straightener, moving in small sections to create the pixie silhouette.
“Rather than simply straightening the hair, I used the Sculpt to lift, bend and redirect individual pieces. I elevated sections at the root, introduced subtle bends through the lengths and alternated their direction to prevent the texture from becoming too uniform,” he said.
Finally, Moreno went back in with the spray wax, pinching the product into her ends with his fingertips, and locked the style with the göt2b glued Blasting Freeze Spray.
Zendaya earned yet another Emmy nomination for her performance as “Rue Bennett” in Sam Levinson’s “Euphoria,” which finished with its third season earlier this year. The actress won both times she was previously nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, following seasons one and two in 2020 and 2022. To honor this year’s award show, Zendaya wore a custom crystal-encrusted Prada gown, styled by her longtime image architect, Law Roach.
The 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, features the best series of the year as voted on by the active members of the Television Academy. HBO series “The Pitt” and “Hacks” lead the nominations with 25 and 24 nominations, respectively. The awards show is held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The Emmy Awards kick off at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and stream on Peacock.
