Amelia Dimoldenberg may have built her career on awkward dates, but when it comes to her personal love life, she’s surprisingly smooth. The “Chicken Shop Date” host and producer recently teamed up with Bumble to help women “date their way” in 2025 – and if her flirty chemistry with Andrew Garfield and Billie Eilish are any indication of her charm, it’s clear she knows a thing or two about sparking connection.
Though dating can often feel complicated, Dimoldenberg likes to keep it simple. “I think opening yourself up to the potential for love is a great first move,” she tells PS exclusively. Dating is all about being authentic, and for her, this means being open about her chicken nugget obsession – something she admits could be her beige flag. “You can take me to most restaurants, but I’ll probably just try and order the kids’ menu,” the London native says.
“I think opening yourself up to the potential for love is a great first move.”
There are some pros to her palate, though. According to Dimoldenberg, her most successful dating app opener is “Do you want to share some chicken nuggets?” A question that does help her bring in guests for her “Chicken Shop Date” series, after all.
In addition to a mutual love for chicken nuggets, Dimoldenberg values humor and communication in a partner. She doesn’t believe in ghosting, and she also thinks it’s important to be direct about your intentions. “Personally, I don’t ghost people because I prefer direct communication. As soon as you are upfront with someone and just tell them that you don’t want to go on another date with them, I just feel like you kind of free yourself,” she says.
But Dimoldenberg also knows how to keep things lighthearted and playful. Out of all the celebrities she’s hosted on her British YouTube series, she says she would hypothetically have the most successful relationship with Cher. “I’m obsessed with her, and it was one of my favorite dates that I’ve done. Her energy was just magical,” Dimoldenberg says. (Sorry to all of you still holding out hope for a Dimoldenberg-Garfield future.)
While Dimoldenberg keeps her love life relatively private, she’s passionate about celebrating love in all its forms. This year, she’s kicking off her partnership with Bumble by hosting Amelia’s Valentine’s Affair, an annual Valentine’s Day party she’s thrown in London for the last four years now. But this isn’t just a party for singles – it’s a chance for people to come together, whether they’re in a relationship, looking for love, or just in need of a fun night out. “It’s a night to meet new people and to make new connections,” Dimoldenberg says.
As for her own dating prospects, Dimoldenberg is staying optimistic. Although she says a “Chicken Shop Date” has never turned into a real date, she’s holding out hope for 2025. “I’ve got a really good feeling about 2025. I just know that something’s going to happen there.”
