Barbie is heading to the desert. The flagship Mattel brand is debuting its first activation at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival beginning Friday, with a new collection of official merchandise and an immersive experience.
“Barbie has always stood for limitless potential, but she’s also a mindset, a vibe and a platform for self-expression,” Nathan Baynard, vice president and head of Barbie at Mattel, said in a statement.
“With a legacy of inspiring generations, Barbie has never been defined by a single role or style, and neither are her fans. Coachella is one of the most powerful cultural stages for individuality and creativity, making it the perfect place to bring Barbie to life in a bold, immersive way. As we continue to evolve with our audience, we’re excited to invite a new generation to step into their own Barbie persona and celebrate who they are — because you can be any Barbie, entirely on your own terms.”

The “You Can Be Any Barbie” activation will be located next to the Main Entrance at Coachella, south of the Artist Merchandise, and directly across from The Do LaB and on the way to Sahara for Weekend One of the festival.
The brand will partner with “Love Island USA” breakout contestant, model and influencer Olandria Carthen, who will help fans and festival-goers embrace their own inner Barbie at the “You Can Be Any Barbie” activation.
“As someone who’s always evolving my style and pushing creative boundaries, Barbie has been a constant source of inspiration since she is so fearless when it comes to style and dressing boldly,” Carthen said in a statement.
“My friends and family have always said I embody Barbie’s spirit, and it’s stuck with me ever since. Now, partnering with Barbie at Coachella is such a full-circle moment. I’m excited to celebrate individuality, creativity, and invite everyone to show up as their most expressive, authentic selves, unleashing their inner Barbie.”
The “You Can Be Any Barbie” activation will be an immersive experience, featuring an entrance gallery wall showcasing Barbie dolls, personas and charms, a charm bar with luxury styling and custom Barbie-inspired charms that match any Barbie persona and Barbie photo opps with a portrait studio and professional lighting set against the official Barbie x Coachella backdrop.
Along with the activation, Barbie will continue its collaboration with Coachella and debut a fresh collection of official merchandise, which will be sold at Coachella’s main merchandise tent. Merchandise will range in pricing from $35-$45.
