Beyoncé seized the attention of the 2024 Super Bowl commercial viewers with a new music announcement and a fashion statement teasing it.
The singer attended the game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in Las Vegas wearing a cowboy core-inspired outfit. Her look consisted of a black minidress with beading throughout, leather thigh-high boots and a bolo tie.
To complete her look, Beyoncé added a cowboy hat and a black coat. Her hair, which was styled by Neal Farinah, was inspired by the 1980s.
Beyoncé’s look was secretly teasing her next project.
After Usher’s halftime show performance, viewers of the sporting game were presented with a Verizon commercial featuring Beyoncé in futuristic looks — Farinah also styled her hair for the campaign. “Ok, they ready — drop the new music. I told y’all the ‘Renaissance’ is not over,” she said in the video. The commercially playfully references if she can “break the internet, but can she break Verizon.”
Following the commercial, fans of the singer found another video on her website announcing the release of the second act of her “Renaissance” trilogy for March 29. The teaser, set in the ‘80s and inspired by Wim Wenders’ “Paris, Texas,” confirmed one of the fans’ many theories about the upcoming project — she is going country.
The theories about Beyoncé’s country era have been around since last year, but they were recently brought back after the 2024 Grammy Awards on Feb. 4 in Los Angeles, where the singer showed up wearing another cowboy core-inspired outfit by Louis Vuitton.
The first part of the “Renaissance” trilogy was released in July 2022. The album was filled with Black dance music styles, including disco and house. The trilogy is expected to continue paying homage to Black pioneers in music while exploring different genres.
At the 2024 Super Bowl, Beyoncé was accompanied by her husband, Jay Z, and her kids, Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir Carter. Blue Ivy wore an Off-White jacket with Nike dunk sneakers, while Rumi was dressed in Givenchy.
