Blond hair was all the beauty buzz at the 2026 BET Awards in Los Angeles, where a slew of A-listers and artists came together to celebrate the breakout Black creatives of the year, including “One Battle After Another” Oscar nominee Teyana Taylor.
Lizzo, Chloe Bailey and Tia Mowry were among the attendees leading the movement, layering bright blond hues over their brunette roots, outside the Peacock Theater on Sunday night. Meanwhile, other guests, like Doechii, added subtle texture to their dark braids with hints of red. Ahead, WWD breaks down the biggest blond moments on the BET Awards carpet.
Chloe Bailey
Clad in an hourglass Valdrin Sahiti gown, Chloe Bailey continued her blond bob era, pairing the pithy style with stringent liner and lash clusters along her waterline. With her ends flipped and her top layers curled and hairsprayed in place, the aesthetic harked back to the poodle bob trend popularized in the 1940s. Stylist Fesa Nu crafted a similar style for Bailey in her music video, “Resurrection,” released in early June. However, Nu has yet to be credited as the architect behind her blond bob at the BET Awards. WWD has reached out for confirmation.

Tia Mowry
Accenting the gold hues of her beaded gown, Tia Mowry tied blond hair into her long box braids on the carpet. The “Twitches” star likely collaborated with her longtime stylist, Marquita Lynch, whose A-list client roster also includes Zendaya, Alexa Demie, Lizzo and more. WWD has contacted Lynch for confirmation.
Lizzo
Lizzo went wild with the honey blond highlights on Sunday night, styling her long extensions in tight coils down the front of her dress. At the top, her melted caramel roots were teased to the right amount of texture, creating a full volume look. Recently, the “Truth Hurts” singer has been tapping artist Shelbeniece Swain and Matthew Jeanpierre to help bring her hair vision to life. However, this look was crafted by the hands of Kim Kimble.
Eva Marcille
Dressed in a neon green knit ensemble, Eva Marcille teamed bleached hair with bleached brows on the carpet. Her head was shaved in an ultra-short pixie cut, with the help of hairstylist Terrell Mullin, who was also responsible for her moody eye makeup and nude lip.
