FAREWELL, CHANEL: Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr is set to stage a rare event later this month with the live auction in Paris of 367 lots of Chanel clothing and accessories, all from a single owner.

Chanel: A Private Collection” features pieces designed between 1995 and 2023 by Karl Lagerfeld and Virginie Viard, organized by season, type and color.

There are 130 jackets, dresses and coats; 80 pieces of costume jewelry; and 70 cardigans, sweaters and cashmere coats. There is also a curated selection of Première Mini watches, Ultra rings, handbags, ballet flats and sandals.

Highlights include a long black tweed coat adorned with a gold CC patch, reminiscent of the style worn by Anne Hathaway’s character in “The Devil Wears Prada.” Designed by Karl Lagerfeld, it carries an estimate of 1,500 to 2,000 euros.

There is also a blue and pink sequined tweed jacket trimmed with scoubidou, a French knotting technique. It is from the Resort 2013 Versailles collection with an estimate of 700 to 900 euros.

A choker, bracelet and earrings made from imitation white pearls from the fall 1996 rtw collection carries an estimate of 1,000 to 1,200 euros. There is also a fall 2010 “CC” brooch made from champagne-colored metal and red and black glass paste with an estimate of 400 to 600 euros.

Hubert Felbacq, director of the fashion and accessories department at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr in Paris, said the collection offers “an intimate glimpse into one woman’s dressing room, meticulously organized by season, type and color since 1995.”

Felbacq said that such a comprehensive single-owner collection “is a rarity to appear at auction. Assembled with an exceptional eye and a genuine joy for design, the collection has been cherished for decades. Its owner now passes it on with the hope that these pieces will be worn, loved and reinterpreted by a new generation of Chanel aficionados.”

The sale will take place at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr, the Paris arm of the international auction house, located on Avenue Hoche, on Feb. 19.
