Count Brooks Brothers as the latest brand to jump into the performance space.

The New York-based retailer has launched the Brooks Brothers Performance Series capsule collection.

The spring collection includes micro-stripe jersey polo shirts in six colors; quick-dry stretch five-pocket pants; Supima cotton polos; half-zip jersey shirts, and a classic two-button navy blazer. Each style features moisture-wicking fabrics and technical details such as Velcro back pockets and tabs designed to attach golf gloves. In a nod toward sustainability, the collection also uses recycled fabrics.

While this performance collection is new, Brooks Brothers pointed out that the company’s history in sport dates back nearly 200 years. It was 1896 when John Brooks, the founder’s grandson, saw English polo players pinning down their shirt collars as they rode, which led to the creation of the company’s Original Polo Button-Down Oxford shirt. It was also among the first brands to introduce clothing suitable for sports such as tennis, golf and sailing.

The Brooks Brothers Performance Series is available at Brooks Brothers retail stores as well as online.
