LONDON — Stars of stage and screen went all out for the 2025 Laurence Olivier Awards on Sunday in London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The annual awards ceremony, hosted by the Society of London Theatre, honors professional theater in London, with past award winners including 2024’s “Sunset Boulevard,” 2017’s “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” and 2013’s “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime.”
Billy Porter and Beverley Knight hosted this year’s ceremony, while presenters included Cate Blanchett, who’s starring in “The Seagull” at the Barbican, Idris Elba, Elizabeth Debicki and Ewan McGregor.
Fresh from receiving an Oscar for “The Brutalist,” Adrien Brody wore a black suit and sparkling Elsa Jin brooch to the ceremony. He was nominated for the best actor award for his role in “The Fear of 13.”

Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell, who star in “Much Ado About Nothing,” presented the award for best actress and best actor categories, which went to Lesley Manville for “Oedipus” and John Lithgow, star of “Giant,” respectively.
This year, the play “Giant,” which explores author Roald Dahl’s antisemitism, also took home the coveted best new play award. Lithgow’s costar, Elliot Levy, took home best supporting actor for his role as Dahl’s publisher, Tom Maschler.
Musicals “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “Fiddler on the Roof” also each won three trophies.
“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” received accolades for best new musical, outstanding musical contribution and best actor in a musical.
“Fiddler on the Roof,” which received 13 nominations, won three: best musical revival, best sound design and best set design.
