DEVOTED TO THE CAUSE: Amira Casar was easy to spot in the crowded ballroom at Hôtel de Crillon in Paris thanks to her outfit fresh off Dior’s spring 2026 runway, complete with a dramatic black hat resembling a cornette.
“A bit like a nun,” Casar quipped during the cocktail at Friday night’s “Devotion” ball to raise money for cancer treatments.
The French British actress was very familiar with the gilded salons overlooking Place de la Concorde, as she had spent a week there filming scenes for the 2024 Apple series “La Maison.”
“It’s divine, only there are lots of [floor vents] and your heels get stuck in them,” she said with a yelp of laughter.

Next up, Casar is to narrate Stravinsky’s “Persephone” at the Barbican in London in February, and she will portray a plastic surgeon in her next movie, playing the lead role in Miranda Bowen’s “Vamp.”
Arielle Dombasle, Anh Duong, Noémie Lenoir, Diana Picasso, Joanna Preiss and Vincent Darré were among guests entertained by event host Catherine Baba, who established the gala in 2021 following her recovery from leukemia at the Necker Hospital in Paris, beneficiary of Friday night’s event.
The longtime stylist, costume designer and fashion world fixture roamed the room with a mic offering words of welcome — and also urging guests to buy raffle tickets and bid during a live auction of fashion photography.
Baba hoisted some of the framed images above her head like a ring girl, strutting through the rooms in her vertiginous Christian Louboutin platforms.
She stopped and offered a mic to Ellen von Unwerth to recount the back story of her donation: a snapshot of David Bowie hovering over Kate Moss.
“One of my favorite shoots ever,” von Unwerth enthused.
As if on cue, Duong said she’s playing a top fashion photographer in the forthcoming Amazon Prime series “Glam Squad” by French director Rebecca Zlotowski. Filming took place in October in the south of France and will continue later this month.
A model before she became an actress and artist, Duong said she can hold a camera convincingly.
“God knows, I’ve seen enough photographers. Yeah, I can imitate very well,” she said with a chuckle. “I was always wondering, ‘How come no one has done a great show about the fashion world backstage?’ And she just did it.”
