Zelda Williams – daughter of the late Robin Williams – is set to make her directorial debut, and she’s starting strong with a “zomb-com.” In June 2022, Deadline reported that Williams’s upcoming film, “Lisa Frankenstein,” will star “Riverdale“‘s Cole Sprouse and Kathryn Newton, who’s best known for her performance in “Big Little Lies.” The movie will also reunite writer Diablo Cody and producer Mason Novick, who previously collaborated on “Jennifer’s Body” and “Juno.”
On Oct. 26, Focus Features released the trailer for “Lisa Frankenstein,” which gives fans an electric first look at how Lisa reanimates Sprouse’s zombie character and how her efforts to be with her undead crush ultimately turn murderous. The trailer is just under two minutes long, but Cody’s trademark dark humor is apparent from start to finish.
In June 2022, Williams tweeted about how grateful she was to be able to bring what she described as “the most bonkers, wonderful zombie script I’ve ever read” to the screen, adding, “I had three films fall apart before this, because movies often do. It was discouraging, to say the least. But the fact this one survived and THRIVED to be my first? A f*king gift ♥️.”
