BROOKLYN DEBUT: Cos has opened a pop-up for its men’s and women’s collections at 92 North Sixth Street in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.
The pop-up, which opened Thursday, marks the brand’s first location in Brooklyn. The site is also distinguished by select elements of the brand’s sustainable concepts, including rails to hang clothing made from 30 percent recycled content, papier mâché tables created by Lecce and New York-based Paper Factor, and mannequins made from 100 percent recycled polystyrene.
In addition, Alkemis supplied what it characterizes as its “wellness paint with natural color palettes of nontoxic mineral ingredients with earth-friendly production processes.” Also, a.p. bio, a multidisciplinary studio, provided floral designs and vintage furniture pieces sourced from Somerset House, an interior design and staging firm and gallery. “The result creates a soothing environment that will have hybrid qualities, allowing the space to embrace further partners and events from the worlds of contemporary culture during its lifespan,” Cos indicated in a statement.
Cos, a London-based brand of H&M, is known for its modern, minimal, functional designs and wardrobe essentials as well as its strong support of the arts.
Asked if Cos would consider operating permanently in Brooklyn, a spokesperson replied, “We are pleased to be joining the Williamsburg community and we look forward to learning more about our local customer.”
