Dakota Fanning brought a pop of pastels to “CBS Mornings” on Tuesday. The actress appeared on the morning show to discuss her latest film, “The Watchers,” which debuts in theaters on Friday.
Fanning sported a mint Victoria Beckham midi dress featuring a plunging neckline, voluminous sleeves and a gathered bodice. The “Ripley” star accessorized with gold open-toe slingbacks.
Stylist Samantha McMillen, whose other A-list clients include Kirsten Dunst, Brie Larson and Fanning’s younger sister, Elle, dressed her for the occasion.
Speaking to hosts Gayle King, Vladimir Duthiers and Nate Burleson, Fanning explained how she relates to her character in the film, Mina, an artist who is struggling to find herself.
“I’ve not met anyone that can’t identify with having a lost period in their life where you’re in the in between phase — that feeling of you’re waiting for your life to start until you realize that your life has started and you have to seize it,” Fanning said.
“The Watchers” marks the directorial debut of Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of “The Sixth Sense” helmer M. Night Shyamalan.
Last week, Fanning promoted “The Watchers” in London, stepping out in looks by Erdem and Oscar de la Renta. For a red carpet screening, the actress donned a sleeveless dress featuring an abstract design from Erdem’s fall 2024 collection. Then, at the film’s London photo call, Fanning wore a beige midi dress emblazoned with a tulip print.
Fanning has kept busy in recent months after venturing on a promotional tour for “Ripley,” Netflix’s new mystery series starring “Fleabag” actor Andrew Scott. The new adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 novel “The Talented Mr. Ripley” was filmed in Capri, Venice, Naples and the Amalfi Coast.
