LONDON — Dunhill, the British luxury menswear brand owned by Compagnie Financière Richemont, on Thursday unveiled an elevated and expanded retail concept at China’s top-performing shopping mall, SKP Beijing.

Following a comprehensive transformation, the store, first opened in 2007, now reflects the aesthetic envisioned by creative director Simon Holloway, drawing inspiration from its London flagship, Bourdon House, which offers British style with a contemporary touch.

It carries a full range of offerings, including bespoke tailoring, ready-to-wear, leather goods, footwear and accessories.

The store features an open-plan space adorned with natural wood, fine fabrics and vintage-inspired custom furniture. The lacquered wood paneling and curved glass displays echo the brand’s boutique on Rue de la Paix in Paris. At the back, there is a private suite dedicated to bespoke tailoring and made-to-measure services.

Dunhill is one of several Richemont’s fashion and accessories brands, which include Alaïa, Chloé, Delvaux, Montblanc, Gianvito Rossi, Peter Millar, Purdey and Serapian.

China is one of the brand’s most important markets, counting 25 points of sale, with flagships in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Earlier this year, the brand engaged with China’s vibrant art world via a partnership with West Bund Art & Design, sponsoring this year’s West Bund Voice Forums.

The partnership presented a local iteration of Holloway’s fascination and connection to the art world. His first show for Dunhill was staged at London’s National Portrait Gallery’s Duveen Wing. Since last year, Dunhill has supported the Frieze Master Talks series, and the partnership has been extended until 2026.

To inaugurate the China event, Dunhill hosted a talk featuring Chinese artist Qiu Anxiong and Jin Yucheng, a literary master who wrote the genre-defining “Blossoms Shanghai,” which was later adapted into a hit TV show directed by Wong Kar-wai, at the historic Shanghai Club by the Bund, which counts as one of the city’s earliest gentlemen’s clubs.

Since taking over the creative helm at Dunhill in 2023, Holloway has been on a mission to “reclaim the mantle of exquisite British menswear.”

“The world references British menswear in their design work, whether it’s heritage in color, typology of fabric or even the codes of classic menswear — it really does derive from an English construct. To celebrate that in a really handsome way will be wonderful,” he told WWD earlier.
