After an electric Tony’s ceremony, many of the stars headed out to their respective cast parties — before making it to the after party stop of the night, held annually at The Carlyle hotel. A who’s-who of this year’s nominees and winners came by, including Eddie Redmayne, Jonathan Groff, Daniel Radcliffe, Sarah Paulson, Brooke Shields, Billy Porter, Sarah Pidgeon, Juliana Canfield, Ariana DeBose, Jim Parsons and many more.
The cast of “Stereophonic” was on a high following their big win for Best Play. Pidgeon, Canfield and many of their castmates were spotted at the famed hotel; some members of the team were mingling in a roped-off VIP section. Also at The Carlyle, seated in a booth opposite Julianne Hough, DeBose received many congratulations for her job as host, which included several costume changes and live performances, including a tribute to Chita Rivera who passed away in January. Other guests chatted and posed for photos throughout the evening, including Billy Eichner, nominee Jim Parsons and winner Kecia Lewis.

Groff was one of the night’s big stories for his win for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, in “Merrily We Roll Along.” It was Groff’s third nomination and first win.
At The Carlyle after party, when asked what was more life changing, winning the Tony or seeing Beyoncé on tour four times, Groff quickly quipped, “Sophie’s choice. That’s my answer,” before he was ushered along by his people. He was whisked away to a dark booth in a packed back room where Radcliffe was seated to celebrate their wins. Around the same time, actor Jeffrey Wright quickly posed for one photo at the hotel’s entrance before saying, “Alright, see ya.”
Some guests pushed to grab a spot in a back room where a small live band performed while others flocked upstairs to a less crowded scene where a DJ played and sliders and fresh omelettes were passed around. At 2:30 a.m. the party was still going strong. “Insane,” one guest said of the growing crowd, while another said, “The night is young.”
It seemed these Broadway babies weren’t ready to say goodnight.
