Elizabeth Olsen opted for vintage style inspiration for her look on the “Today” show in New York City on Tuesday. The actress chatted with host Jenna Bush Hager and guest cohost Barbara Bush to discuss her forthcoming film “The Assessment,” costarring Himesh Patel and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander.

Olsen opted for a look courtesy of Patou‘s fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection. The cream tweed minidress featured three-quarter-length sleeves and an exaggerated high-neckline. The look also featured such details as rounded shoulders and lining running down the bodice and skirt of the dress.

Olsen paired her look with sheer tights courtesy of Commando and coordinated the look with a set of chocolate brown, pointed-toe heels by Gianvito Rossi. The actress opted to keep her accessories, minimal, maintaining focus on her attire for the daytime talk show.

Olsen’s Patou dress made its runway debut in January 2025 as part of Paris Fashion Week. “I just wanted visual effects without a story,” said Guillaume Henry, the artistic director of Patou since September 2018, per Lily Templeton’s WWD review of the collection. “This is a woman who passes you by and you catch her — or not. You’re the one telling the story, not me.”

Inspiration for the collection featured “the allure of French cinema characters,” per Templeton’s review, which “remained a major influence for Henry. Backstage, a whole board filled with stills from films dating back to the 1960s to the late ‘70s sat next to the one with the run of show.”

“For today’s woman, he offered cropped jackets with patent bands at the hem and sleeves; mini shift dresses; flirty little lace dresses cinched with wide belts, and debonair trousers with utilitarian details. Bags, too, were meant to be easy to carry about — a new model could even be worn holster-style.”

Olsen stars in “The Assessment.” The film, set in the not-too-distant future, follows a couple who are assessed for the right to be parents over the course of seven days. The film hits theaters on April 3.
