The seasons are changing and so is Emma Stone‘s hair.
The “La La Land” actress officially returned to her roots at the Telluride Film Festival over the weekend, debuting long, caramel-blond curls that finished at her chest.
Clad in a gray cardigan, cropped jacket, collared blouse and blue jeans, Stone looked as if she were plucked straight from a fall fashion catalog. Her hair, however, juxtaposed the cool weather gear, adding a touch of warmth with its honeycomb coloring and wild waves that appeared dried from the ocean.

The texture and cut isn’t one Stone has donned in years, not after she shaved her head to play Michelle Fuller in Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Bugonia.” In fact, for a minute there, it was looking like the big-screen star may never let her hair curl past her shoulders again, having kept blunt bobs and shaggy “bixies” — aka bob-pixies — for the last couple of months.
Yet, a new season often inspires a style reset, and it’s clear Stone is ready to embrace a new era. The “Easy A” lead attended the festival alongside Ali Herting, Jesse Eisenberg and Julianne Moore to celebrate the world premiere of “The Debut,” a musical comedy about a houswife’s journey into method acting. Stone helped produce the film with both Eisenberg and Herting as well as Dave McCary. She also spoke at the screening of A24’s upcoming documentary “You Can See Everything,” which spotlights the story of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes.
In Telluride Film Festivals past, the Hollywood star has sported a platinum bob and a ginger “lob.” Indeed, she maintained her pixie persona to promote “Bugonia” at last year’s affair, parting the short layers across her forehead and behind her ears.
Stone’s current coloring is on par with emerging trends, including deeper, richer hair colors — from spiced auburn and soft mocha to creamy beige blonds. According to celebrity hair artist Cody Renegar, the dominating hues are also warm. “Spiced auburn and bright cinnamon are two red tones to watch for, specifically,” Renegar previously told WWD. “They’re more brown than the vivid reds we saw last year, so they’re more natural.”
