Eli Russell Linnetz channeled his love affair with American nostalgia into his debut holiday collection for ERL — with the Golden State in mind.
It’s been a busy year for Linnetz, who had his debut art show at Jeffrey Deitch gallery during the summer.
In April, ERL unveiled a collaboration with Levi’s (the brand has also been tapped by Dior Men’s), and a month later, opened its first retail store at 1842 Washington Way, near Abbott Kinney Boulevard in Venice, Calif. Now he’s introducing holiday.
Offering “Chapter Two: California Holiday,” the line showcases shearling in apparel and accessories; there’s an $11,700 chocolate brown shearling coat and a hooded version in canary yellow, a $2,650 messenger bag and $1,850 boots.

The brand’s signature “swirl” hoodie is now available in red, featuring plaid patchwork, at $585. Red, browns and plaid are found throughout the new collection. There’s a light cotton T with a relaxed fit and vintage feel in what Linnetz calls “sun-faded” red, with “California” printed in cursive on the breast pocket. A chocolate brown version has “Venice” — which Linnetz calls home — written across the front.
Other accessories include hand-dyed socks in the same signature red hue, as well as available in brown, cream and black, made in Japanese cotton. The plaid patchwork is on a range of items, including a zip-up hoodie that’s hand-sewn, bathrobes made with upcycled materials and boxers that have been over-washed for softness. Everything is made in California.
“Our story continues where chapter one left off,” notes the brand of the inspiration. “Kai has made a life for himself on the Big Sur farm, inviting his best friends to join him for the winter. During the holiday, they suddenly find themselves snowed in and must weather the storm together in a cabin in the woods.”
The campaign, shot and styled by Linnetz at ERL’s studio in Venice Beach, features local surfers. Out now, the collection is available exclusively at erl.store.
