Ask “Ginny and Georgia” star Antonia Gentry to characterize her curl pattern, and she’ll tell you it’s everything but the kitchen sink.
“I have like three different curl patterns on my head,” she told WWD in an exclusive interview. “It’s one of those things where it’s this kind of concoction of different puzzle pieces that you have to put together.”
Growing up, the 28-year-old actress could never figure out the full picture. As a result, she fought against her texture and ignored the needs of her hair, seeking other methods of styling as she constantly switched up her look. To this day, she still likes to experiment with varying hair aesthetics, but she prioritizes the health of her curls first.

“It took a lot of trial and error,” she said of finding the right products. “It was important to find a set I can rely on.”
Enter Aussie, the heritage hair brand, owned by Procter and Gamble.
In a new partnership, Aussie and Gentry have teamed up to co-create a ritual curl routine, comprised of six steps: cleanse, quench, detangle, define, hold and gloss. Named Ultra Smooth, the collection is designed to fight frizz and tame humidity, with a Shampoo, Conditioner, Detangling Glaze, Glossing Shield, Defining Jelly and Style Shield, priced at $9.99 each.
“It was refreshing to work with Aussie because, particularly about my hair journey, they were very interested in that and building products that worked around my own experiences,” Gentry said, noting her role as the guinea pig in the beginning stages of innovation. “They sent me the earlier renditions and were like, ‘Try these out. Tell us what days you used it, how you used it and in what order.’ It was very detailed.”
The products, Gentry continued, are compatible with several hair types and help with heat styling. “There’s up to four days of moisture and anti-frizz, which, for me, was important because I’m not trying to restyle my hair every single day.”
On the set of Netflix’s “Ginny and Georgia,” Gentry is transported back to her adolescence, assuming the role of Ginny Miller, a self-seeking teen. “She’s trying to find her own identity and discover who she is,” the actress said, pointing out how the storyline is reflected in her hair. “In the beginning, we had a big point about Ginny’s hair journey and not understanding the beauty in it, and while I thought her hair was still beautiful in that state, it was more frizzy, less defined, and we leaned into that.”
In season two, viewers start to see Ginny experiment more, mainly with blue hair dye and a curling wand. By season three, she’s discovered extensions.
“Season four hasn’t come out yet, but there’s even more of that,” Gentry teased. “Each season, we’re elevating her styles and her self-expression, which I find for my own hair journey a little bit similar when I was that age, kind of experimenting with different ways that I wanted to do my hair. I love that my character gets to go through that because it’s something that a lot of people can relate to with any sort of hair texture, but of course, specifically for my curly girls out there.” And Gentry would give Ginny the same advice she plans on sharing with her audience: Use Aussie Ultra Smooth.
