Doechii arrived at the 2026 Met Gala on Monday night in New York City without a certain wardrobe piece one might have expected her to have worn. The musician decided to skip shoes for the red carpet event in favor of a barefoot look showing off an intricate henna design.

Doechii wore custom Marc Jacobs for the occasion and tip-toed down the red carpet, where she explained that she purposefully got henna on her feet so she could avoid wearing heels. She did, however, wear anklets which accented the dye on her feet.

This wouldn’t the first time Doechii has gone barefoot for a high-profile event. She also forwent footwear to sit front row at a Chloé fashion show in 2025.

Meanwhile, Doechii’s Marc Jacobs dress was a revealing asymmetric garment with draped fabric in a burgundy wine color.

The Grammy-winning musician, born Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon, had her hair mostly covered by a twisted head piece while her makeup look included dramatic lashes, rosy cheeks, light green eyeshadow and glitter across her face. In the past, the performer has often collaborated with makeup artist Dee (@deemakeupart on Instagram) and hairstylist Malcolm Marquez. However, neither Dee nor Marquez has been credited as the architect behind her Monday night glam.

Doechii first attended the Met Gala in 2025 as a committee member for the spring exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Here, she wore custom Louis Vuitton by Pharrell Williams, featuring a monogrammed Tuxedo jacket, a burgundy tie, checkered shorts, mid-calf socks and platform Mary Janes. Meanwhile, her hair was styled in an afro, and her glam boasted the LV logo on her right cheek.
