Diehard fans of ‘90s minimalism even at the seaside, rejoice. French contemporary brand Soeur has released a swimwear collaboration with Italy’s indie beachwear specialist Lido that exudes the era’s vibes with its clean lines and sophisticated color palette.

The focused lineup hinges on three swimsuit styles cut in classic and comfy one-piece and bikini silhouettes and made using fast-dry fabrics. Lightweight garments such as a striped shirt in cotton voile, a billowing skirt and beach accessories encompassing a towel, bathing cap and a bag add to the collection, which plays on caramel, pistachio and chocolate hues.

“Soeur is all about a wardrobe that makes lines indistinguishable. A wardrobe that borrows elements of men’s fashion to enhance feminine allure,” said Domitille Brion, creative director of the Paris-based brand she launched with her sister Angélique in 2008. “These are garments that express a modern and inspirational vision of femininity: honest, sensitive, elegant and inclusive. Style exists regardless of age, and I want anyone who wears our clothes to feel understood and valued.”

Dropped on Wednesday exclusively on Soeur’s e-commerce and 15 of its brick-and-mortar stores, the collection is priced between 65 euros and 245 euros.

The release is promoted via a dedicated campaign featuring model Tanya Ruban, who was photographed by Ben Beagent in Venice in a nod to the city where Daria Stankiewicz Lido founded the indie swimwear brand in 2017.

Launched with the goal to offer practical and sustainable beachwear that could stand the test of time, Lido is available at the likes of Rinascente and Biffi in Milan, L’inde Le Palais in Bologna, Sugar in Arezzo and Tessabit locations on Lake Como, as well as luxury destinations such as Hotel Mezzatorre in Ischia and Hotel Pellicano in Porto Ercole. International retailers comprise The Frankie Shop, Moda Operandi, Ssense, LuisaViaRoma, Net-a-porter and Beams in Tokyo, to name a few.

Soeur is not new to collaborations. Last year, it teamed with K-Way on a capsule collection, which followed previous tie-ups with artist Katrien De Blauwer, influencer Leandra Medine Cohen and a partnership with J.M. Weston on footwear.

Also last year, private equity fund Style Capital acquired an 80 percent stake in the French brand with the aim to further accelerate its international footprint and digitalization.
