London’s young clubgoers tapped into American rock ‘n’ roll in the 1980s, defining its next trend momentum.

The term “nostalgia” is more common in fashion than ever. In 1986, it was the 1950s that took over London club kids’ state of mind. The city known for its fashion and underground club scene was discovering, as WWD made note, “the joys of this singular decade.” The style takeover seen mostly on the outskirts of London was less Teddy Boy and more American rock ‘n’ roll. Lasting as long as any fashion trend — for the moment.
