Hailey Bieber is back to her bob self.

After a year of letting her hair grow below her shoulders, the 29-year-old Rhode founder took to her Instagram Story on Sunday night to debut her new cut. In the mirror selfie, Bieber flashed her signature pout with her caramel-colored ends flipped and chopped to her collarbone.

Instead of the quintessential blunt bob, the beauty mogul opted for long layers throughout. Her blond highlights were prominent in the yellow light above her, folding between the darker color around them. Her makeup was — of course — natural, comprised of overlined lips, concealer, fake freckles and a baby pink hue on her cheeks. Meanwhile, her nails were painted in a frosty milk hue, a huge switch up from the leopard print French tip talons she sported earlier in December. These eccentric nails were designed by manicurist Zola Ganzorigt.

Artist Amanda Lee — stylist to Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne — returned Bieber’s hair to its bob form. On Instagram, Lee shared the selfie of Bieber with the caption: “A very flipppppy holiday blowout for Hailey.” WWD has reached out to Lee for further comments.

Bieber hasn’t favored the short hair look for some time, not since last spring. In fact, for all of 2024, the A-lister styled side parts and slick backs with a chin-length cut, having made her first big chop in early January last year. Because of this, Bieber is considered to be a pioneer of the bob trend, which has influenced a slew of Hollywood stars to ditch their long hair for the above-the-shoulder hairdo in the past year alone.

First popularized by movie legend Mary Thurman in the 1920s, the bob is predicted to be just as big in 2026. It may, however, evolve and take on new forms. Perhaps a hybrid-shag with lots of layers or a French bob, which is just a finer chop above the chin. Considering Bieber’s trendsetting superpower, it’s likely the below-the-chin bob may be the next infatuation, especially if her hair stays at this length for at least a few weeks.
