2009

For the 2009 Southern Inaugural Ball celebrating the inauguration of President Barack Obama, Biden chose to fashion this strapless red gown by Reem Acra, which featured a flowing skirt.

2011

By the time she was second lady during the Obama administration, Biden showed how playful she could be with her fashion. For the 2011 Mother’s Day event, she fashioned a pink dress with a hemline just above the knee with floral heels and a bold statement necklace.

In January 2013, Biden and then-Vice President Joe Biden attended the Commander-in-Chief’s Inaugural Ball at the Walter Washington Convention Center celebrating the reelection of President Obama. For the ball, Jill Biden opted for a flowing, glossy blue gown with black waistband by Vera Wang.

2017 was the year Biden had more fun with her fashion. In the run-up to the 2020 election cycle, the future first lady fashioned this playful look by Gabriela Hearst, which featured forest green fringe detailing on the fabric and a belted waist, for the fifth annual Save the Children Illumination Gala at the American Museum of Natural History.

2020

When future President of the United States Joe Biden received the democratic presidential nomination in August 2020, Jill Biden joined the celebrations in this modern Christian Siriano dress. The look featured a soft purple hue that complemented Biden perfectly.

During the inauguration of President Joe Biden, Jill Biden chose to highlight a New York-based designer for her attire. She wore a custom-made wool tweed coat and dress in ocean blue by Markarian.
