Denim and diamonds anyone? Fine jewelry designer Lauren Harwell Godfrey and Savas founder Savannah Yarborough are making a compelling case for dressing up Western wear.

The two designers have launched a collaboration featuring 18-karat yellow gold and diamond button studs and collar tips created for Savas’ signature Allen denim shirt, bringing together fine jewelry craftsmanship and American workwear.

“I love the idea of blurring the lines between Western dressing, formalwear and fine jewelry,” Godfrey said of the partnership that builds on Godfrey’s Gold Rush collection, inspired by the American West and its rich history of adornment. “Savas’ Allen shirt is already a refined take on the denim shirt, and I wanted to explore what happens when you treat it with the same sense of occasion as a tuxedo.”

Godfrey, who launched her namesake collection in 2018, has emerged as a distinctive voice in the independent fine jewelry market, known for her bold geometry, colorful gemstone inlays and modern interpretations of ancient talismans. The 2022 Gem Award winner has since opened a California flagship and expanded her retail presence to include Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus.

The new embellishments feature her signature geometric engravings, with a single button stud priced at $3,750 and diamond-set collar tips retailing for $26,595 a pair. Both are detachable, allowing them to be styled beyond the original shirt.

For Yarborough, whose Nashville-based label combines classic American menswear with the precision of British tailoring, the collaboration adds a precious dimension to an everyday staple.

The $595 Allen shirt is crafted in Los Angeles from Japanese selvedge denim, with each garment individually hand-aged for a worn-in finish.

“A design principle of Savas is to balance refinement with an element of handmade grit,” said Yarborough. “As fans of each other’s work, we brought the spirit of our aesthetics to familiar adornments of childhood memories, but turned up to 11.”
