One of Brunello Cucinelli‘s daughters, Carolina Cucinelli, has teamed with Holt Renfrew for an exclusive capsule inspired by her wardrobe and personal style.
It’s the latest in a series of projects Brunello Cucinelli has rolled out to solidify its partnerships with retailers.
In the brand’s latest retail collaboration, Carolina Cucinelli and Joseph Tang, fashion director of Canada’s Holt Renfrew, have designed a collection meant to embody versatility and timelessness. “Carolina is a fearless leader who holds different hats — mother, entrepreneur, designer — and she’s always pushing the boundaries,” Tang told WWD.
The collection features pieces that can be worn on multiple occasions, according to Cucinelli. She’s the co-creative director and copresident of the Brunello Cucinelli company. Her sister, Camilla, is co-head of the designer brand’s women’s style team.
“Through this capsule, we had a dialogue around bringing the spirit of Solomeo to Canada,” Tang said. “Touring Solomeo was a truly enriching experience that allowed us to share more of the story of Brunello Cucinelli back to our customer through the lens of this capsule.” Solomeo is the medieval hamlet in Italy that Brunello Cucinelli helped to restore.
The styles in the Holt capsule include a warm shearling jacket inspired by the one Cucinelli wore on her first trip to Mongolia with Camilla.
Other pieces in the capsule collection include chunky cashmere sweaters lightened by the use of voluminous yarns, and skirts and capes true to the brand’s affinity for knitwear. There is also outerwear in precious fibers and understated volumes; denim and cotton trousers, and knitted beanies and scarves. Colors reflect the effortless Brunello Cucinelli vibe, with classic winter neutrals — blues, beiges and whites — paired in “timeless combinations,” the company said.
The collection launches Wednesday on Holt’s website and at Holt’s locations across Canada, within the Brunello Cucinelli in-store shops. According to the parties involved, each garment in the capsule reflects Cucinelli’s heritage, rooted in Italy’s history and artisans, in accordance with the Toronto-based Holt Renfrew’s ideals and sensibilities.
Most recently, Saks and Cucinelli celebrated 25 years of partnership with an exclusive capsule collection, a visual takeover of Saks’ Fifth Avenue’s Manhattan flagship, a private dinner in New York City and digital content across Saks’ channels. Saks also launched Cucinelli’s first fragrances as the exclusive wholesale partner in the U.S., and Saks recently unveiled newly renovated and larger Cucinelli women’s and men’s shops at the Saks flagship.
Neiman Marcus has also strived to strengthen its ties to the Italian luxury brand, by honoring Brunello Cucinelli with the Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion last March in Paris. Recently, Cucinelli created exclusive limited-edition lines for Neiman’s, including in 2022 the Muse of the West collaboration, a multicategory, 30-piece Brunello Cucinelli women’s collection accompanied by marketing initiatives, and in spring 2023, Neiman’s introduced an exclusive Cucinelli Icon Collection, incorporating traditional Italian craftsmanship, Cucinelli’s distinctive neutral color palette and precious fabrics.
